Textile design for DOGSTAR

In collaboration with Australian fashion label DOGSTAR, Gina Choy created two original textiles for the Laika Collection (2016) by Japanese–Australian designer Masayo Yasuki. Drawing inspiration from the jewel-like forms and vivid hues of the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the sweeping contours of the Australian outback, the designs celebrate the richness of the natural world through bold colour and dynamic form.

Transposed onto sheer silk organza and weighty linen, the original ink-on-paper paintings were transformed into flowing garments—vivid, tactile expressions of movement, place, and cultural exchange. This cross-disciplinary project interlaces fashion, landscape, and visual art, revealing how textiles can embody and transform narrative through the body.
